Like many cacti and succulents, these guys prefer to completely dry out between waterings. When you water, however, you should water the soil deeply so that water runs through the drainage hole and hits the roots. It is not necessary to water over winter unless there is prolonged dryness or you notice the plant wilting/puckering a little. The most important thing is not to expose these cacti to prolonged periods of dampness, bring inside over winter as they are not frost-tolerant and place in a warm sunny position. Introduce them slowly to sun if placing outdoors, over a week or 2. Do not sit the pot on a dish. Lightly fertilizer (1/4 to 1/2 strength of normal plants) during the growing season for best results. Be careful when handling cacti as their spines can prick you. Wear gloves and use tongs, or two pieces of white foam packaging as hands. If you need to repot in the future make sure you use cacti and succulent mix adding river sand and perlite for added grit and aeration.
